Available in winter and early spring
Our short weekend break has been designed for small groups of friends, birdwatchers or photographers, with a maximum of five people. Now you can cheaply fly from Stanstead to Zaragoza, this gives you the chance of a very good value tour.
We offer an interesting birdwatching holiday in which you will enjoy our special meals and Spanish wines such as Rioja and Rivera del Duero, specially selected for you during this weekend. Transport will be in a 4x4 vehicle, which allows us take you to unknown places in incredible landscapes. But most important is the opportunity for superb birding and photography days with following selected bird list:
Griffon Vulture, Lammergeier, Golden Eagle, Bonelli´s Eagle, Bittern, Crane, Little Bustard, Stone Curlew, White Stork, Cattle Egret, Eagle Owl, both sandgrouse, Black Woodpecker, Calandra Lark, Short-toed Lark, Thekla Lark, Crag Martin, Water Pipit, Alpine Accentor, Black Wheatear, Blue Rock Thrush, Dartford Warbler, Sardinian Warbler, Firecrest, Peduline Tit, Wallcreeper, Southern Grey Shrike, Red-billed Chough, Alpine Chough, Rock Sparrow, Snow Finch, Cirl Bunting, Rock Bunting.
Day 1.- Meet you at Zaragoza airport (optionally Barcelona). In 10 minutes we will be searching for Eagle Owl, Black Wheatear and Blue Rock Thrush. In no time at all we will be in a huge steppe land looking for sandgrouse with good chances for several larks and raptors. Before arrival at Boletas Birdwatching Centre we will check another Eagle Owl area. Welcome dinner and overnight at Boletas B.C.
Day 2.- We will visit Guara and Vadiello where among other birds Wallcreeper, Lammergeier and Alpine Accentor are almost guaranteed. Near Loporzano we will look for raptors particularly searching for Bonelli´s Eagle the last surviving pair in the central Pyrenees. We will also visit La Sotonera reservoir looking for Cranes. Overnight at Boletas B.C.
Day 3.- Drive to the French border for alpine specialities such as Snow Finch, Alpine Chough and Chamoix in a dramatic landscape of snowy peaks. On the way back to Boletas we will look for woodland birds such as Black Woodpecker and Cirl Bunting. Overnight at Boletas B. C.
Day 4.- En route back to Zaragoza, time permitting, we will make a stop at Sariñena Lake where we may find among other birds, Bittern and Penduline Tit.

We arrived safely in Tarragona! No problem. Lovely & sunny here BUT I would rather be birding at Boletas with that gorgeous scenery, great new birds to see, and nice people like you two. Please accept our thanks for all you did to make our holiday lovely, despite some unpleasantness in Barcelona. GRRRR. So annoying not to have my keyboard for bird notes. Guess I have to resort to old- fashioned pen & pencil.

Thank you both for your help with my last minute birding trip! It worked out well and I had a very good time.
David was a good guide, the birds cooperated, I got a sense of the area, and it was a very enjoyable break.
You have a wonderful spot there and I very much enjoyed your hospitality at Boletas; it was very comfortable, the food was great, and the surrounding area is great to bird. One day I will come back for a longer trip with my wife, and I hope to visit you again then!

Just a short email to say a big thank you for such a wonderful weekend's Birding. I thoroughly enjoyed myself during my brief stay at Boletas. You have a wonderful home and you make the stay very warming, welcoming and friendly. Of course the food is wonderful and I am now on a diet!! I hope to be able to visit you again sometime, maybe a little later in early spring so I can enjoy the migrants and other special birds of your area. For now I am still remembering the Wallcreepers and Lammergeiers !!
